With Spring rapidly approaching, now is the perfect time to start our first ever Montessori Way garden.
Orange county generously offers free compost to its citizens. Over 350 lbs have been brought to the school, awaiting the planting season. (And believe it or not…we may need more!!)
It is our hope that we are able to grow the following items:
Broccoli
Peas
Cucumbers
Kale
Beans
and Several types of Tomatoes
Flowers
….and even a Venus Flytrap!!
Here is where we need your help. All of the seeds have been donated. What we need is containers!
For the elementary class….a large planter. Each child would have their own tomato plant that could be brought home if they are still producing at the end of the year.
(Check out Biglots on OBT and Waterbridge road….they are approx $6)
For the Pre-K and Kindergarten class…they will also assist in the school garden, but we ask that a smaller container is brought in for their own individual flowers.
Any additional containers that you have at home would be greatly appreciated! Also, any donations of garden soil and flowers would be great!
Please bring all requested items by Thursday, March 8th. “Garden Day” will be held on Friday, March 9th schedule permitting. If you are unable to bring in the container for any reason, please let Nausheen know.
Not only will gardening bring a wealth of joy and information….it would be great if the kids could eat some of these for their daily snacks!
We hope that this can turn into a lifelong joy for the children! Go Green!
